This past Sunday, Maeli Market bloomed with sweet aromas, warm laughter, and unforgettable moments at our “Canelé Meets Honey” workshop — and what a delicious day it was!
👨🍳 Terry from Wen & Cheng Honey, a second-generation beekeeper from Kaohsiung, Taiwan 🇹🇼, led the event with heart and expertise. His family has been crafting pure, floral honey since 1961, and he brought that golden legacy to life during a live canelé demo. Guests watched (and tasted!) as Terry showed how to make crispy, caramelized honey-glazed canelés using his signature longan honey — a true treat from Taiwan’s sunny south.
🍵 The experience continued with a soothing tea journey led by Sandy from Sian Te, who introduced refreshing blends like Rose Perilla and Ching-Liang Eye Refresh Tea. Each tea was lightly sweetened with honey, perfectly complementing the floral notes and adding a hint of springtime magic.
🍯 One of the event’s most surprising highlights? The blind honey taste test! Attendees tried to tell the difference between real and fake honey — a fun (and eye-opening) way to deepen their appreciation for what’s in their jars at home.
From the rich scent of baking canelés to the gentle clink of teacups, the afternoon was filled with curiosity, discovery, and heartfelt connection among tea lovers, families, and foodie friends.
🙏 A huge thank-you to Wen & Cheng Honey and Sian Te for sharing your stories, flavors, and passion with our community. And to everyone who joined us — your presence made it even sweeter.
More taste adventures are coming soon, so stay tuned — we can’t wait to welcome you back!
